ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF THE FEDERAL OFFICE BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN
Impetus to the project
An analysis carried out by :R of the cooperation at the federal office of BÜNDNIS 90/DIE GRÜNEN in November and December 2021 confirmed the perceived need to (further) develop the structures within the office. The structure of the organization did not (yet) meet the increased demands placed on the federal office, e.g. due to the strong growth of the party or its participation in the government.
With the new appointment of the Federal Executive Board in January 2022 and the associated "fresh start", the time seemed right for a transformation process.
The aim was to set the internal course in such a way that the next major future goals can be achieved with the federal office as a service provider for the party and its stakeholders and that the employees are happy and satisfied working in the office.
Central levers were:
Clarity and transparency regarding the objectives and requirements of the federal office on the part of the stakeholders
Definition of suitable roles, teams and interfaces
Decisions and transparency regarding the scope for decision-making and the associated organization of cooperation
What we did
Together with colleagues from the political (Federal Executive Board and office managers) and organizational level (organizational management and divisional managers) of the federal office, topics for the transformation process were identified.
By means of (sociocratic) open elections, a 10-member change team was established from both levels (one representative from each team, vertically and horizontally). The aim of this team was to manage the transformation process independently and in coordination with the party's Federal Executive Board, to implement it in topic-related task forces made up of employees and to moderate and communicate it internally.
As of summer 2022, the change team worked independently. :R was available in an advisory capacity for individual process- or content-related topics. In July 2023, the organizational development (OD) was officially completed, the change team was dismissed and the products of the OD and their outcome were finally presented and reflected on with all employees at the head office. In awareness of the constant transformation, follow-up and open projects were made transparent - on the way to a learning organization.
Experience and result
We are very pleased that we were able to support the federal office of“Die Grünen“ in its organizational development with our "SOULfulOrganization" approach and would like to thank them for their trust. We were particularly impressed by the speed, the courage and the personal responsibility of those involved to manage the further transformation process autonomously within 6 months via the change team and to implement it with numerous and influential results.
